Botox Q & A

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX injections are a cosmetic method for minimizing lines between the brows and at the corners of the eyes and across the forehead. Derived from Clostridium botulinum, BOTOX accomplishes this by reducing muscle activity in targeted areas. When movement of the muscles responsible for causing these lines is minimized, so are the lines.

Is BOTOX safe?

Absolutely. No prescription cosmetic treatment has been more extensively studied than BOTOX. Its safety and benefits have been verified in more than 400 medical journal articles. It’s popularity and high satisfaction ratings among patients continue after 15 years of cosmetic use in this country.

How many BOTOX injections do patients receive?

While multiple injections are required, there’s no set number. It depends on how deep the lines are and the desired results.

What does the process of getting BOTOX entail?

Doctors administer BOTOX treatments with ultra-thin needles and only take 15 minutes. Most patients call the sensation a “tolerable pinch,” but a topical numbing cream can be applied 30 minutes before the treatment for patients who are especially sensitive or afraid of needles.

What kind of results can I expect?

BOTOX injections usually start producing noticeable results about 24-48 hours after treatment. These results generally last for about four months. Most patients opt for a follow-up treatment before the effects totally wear off.

Why should I choose Dr. Carruthers for my BOTOX treatment?

BOTOX is widely available, but to ensure safety and optimal results always chose a medical professional with extensive experience. We’ve all seen women and men who have visible ripples, shiny foreheads, or frozen faces, obvious signs of poorly administered BOTOX. This is a technique-sensitive treatment that requires experience and the expertise.
